The Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has summoned 57 teachers from various Government Junior Secondary and Primary Schools in the state over allegations of absenteeism.

According to a report by the Tribune, the affected teachers are from schools including Junior Secondary Schools in Miri, Gumli, Haka Yafi, Tsohon Kamfani, and Guru. The teachers have been directed to appear before the board to explain their failure to report for duty without legitimate reasons.

Expressing concern over the issue, SUBEB’s Executive Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Muhammad Duguri, criticized the habit of teachers neglecting their responsibilities, warning that such behavior is detrimental to the educational system, especially at the foundational level.

“We are committed to reforming the education system in Bauchi, particularly at the foundational level, and teachers who fail to carry out their duties will be held accountable,” Duguri stated.

He reaffirmed the board’s determination to ensure that the education system in Bauchi State meets the required standards for effective learning.
