One of Nigeria’s telecommunications industry operators, 9mobile is offering free access to online learning platforms approved by the federal government.

This initiative is to further support the Nigerian government’s efforts at continuous learning as the lockdown to prevent the spread of Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) persists.

An official confirmation of the development at the Federal Ministry of Education noted that the telecommunications network would be providing “free data” to students visiting such websites the government had earlier predetermined.

The ministry did not however disclose the data volume or bandwidth available to each student.

The sites accessible with the data include that of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) accessible at http://ceagslearn.nouedu.net/.

Another is Khan Academy available at http://www.khanacademy.com/.

There is also Seesaw that is available via http://web.seesaw.me/.

The other two were earlier mentioned in a briefing by Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajuiba last week.

These are Schoolgate and MobileClassroom.

The ministry urged students to contact it through its designated social media platforms in the event of any complaints accessing these platforms.

EduCeleb.com earlier reported that various state governments had introduced on air educational radio and television programmes for the benefit of students daily wiring the COVID-19 influenced lockdown.
