In a testament to the high demand for teaching positions in Oyo State, the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) announced that it has received an overwhelming 52,423 applications for just 7,000 primary school teaching jobs.

This announcement followed the closure of the job application portal on July 9, 2024, which had been open since June 25, 2024.

Nureni Adeniran, Chairman of Oyo SUBEB, expressed his satisfaction with the high number of applicants.

“We are impressed by this response which shows that people are truly keen and excited to work with the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board. However, we are compelled to close the portal, as the deadline has passed,” he stated in a press release Thursday evening.

The chairman noted that the next phase involves sorting the applications to identify suitably qualified candidates.

“We received not less than 52,423 submitted applications within the number of days of opening the portal. That was impressive,” Adeniran said.

He added that successful candidates will be contacted directly by the Board.

In addressing the applicants, Adeniran cautioned against falling for fake news regarding the recruitment process. He urged them to check their emails and phones regularly for updates.

“After the applications are sorted, the next stage will be the CBT examination. The date, venue, and time scheduled for each candidate will be sent to them through their emails and phone numbers,” he clarified.

In related news, Oyo SUBEB has called for enhanced collaboration with the Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board.

This call for synergy was highlighted during a courtesy visit by the Pension Board’s Chairman, Akeem Ige.

Adeniran emphasised that such cooperation would streamline the documentation process for retiring primary school teachers, ensuring a smoother transition into retirement.

This recruitment drive underscores Governor Seyi Makinde’s commitment to improving the basic education sector in Oyo State.

By addressing the shortfall in teaching staff, the state aims to enhance the quality of education provided to its primary school students.
