The winner of the 2018 edition of the annual mathematics competition of Yeye Oge of Akesan (YOA) Foundation, Dike Divine Favour went home with the grand prize of N100,000 worth of scholarship, a tablet phone, a new bank account worth N20,000 and books.
She contested in the competition which featured other students within the six(6) Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Alimosho Local Government Area. The teenage student at the Great Lilies College was adjudged best among equals.
EduCeleb.com reports that YOA Foundation was birthed out of the passion of its founder, Chief (Mrs) Aminat Ige-Afinju who is Yeye Oge Of Akesan to contribute to community service, empowerment of the youth and inspiration for the girl-child.
The Foundation is committed to rendering programs and projects to positively impact the lives of the youth and development of the society.
At the grand finale of the competition held on 10th November 2018, 71 schools and 213 female students across Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State participated.
Aside Ms Dike, other students who made it to the finals were Masturah Abdul Waheed of Muslim Kids and Teen College, Ayeni Ibukunoluwa of Do Est-dot Int’l School, Ezenoye Lotachukwu of Feranmi Comprehensive High School, and Oshiokpekhai Aisha of Blissful Tower College.
The first runner-up, Masturah went home with a tablet phone, a new bank account worth N20,000 and books.
Meanwhile, the second runner up, Ibukunoluwa went home with a new account worth N20,000, a big Binatone blender and books.
The other two finalists went home with customized bags and others consolation prizes.
The event, which was chaired by the Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture, Isiaka Oluwatoyin Suarau had numerous guests in attendance.
Other dignitaries present are Professor Adenike Boyo of the Physics Department, Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos, Chief Latifat Yusuf, Yeye Oge of Ijagemo Kingdom, and a Council Manager at Mushin Local Government, Princess Morenikeji Okwuonu.
Also there were Mr Sakiru Aromire of Sterling Bank, Alhaji Jubril Aliu and Mr Jimoh Jubril both of Mushin Local Government, and Mr Sunkanmi Arowolo of LASU.
They all immensely thanked the organisers for promoting and raising responsible and enlightened youth in order to inspire tomorrow’s leaders to lead.
