Yabatech governing council assumes duty on July 22

In a strategic move aimed at enhancing academic standards and infrastructural development, the newly constituted Governing Council of Yaba College of Technology will assume duty on Monday, July 22. The council, led by Professor Funsho Isolaowa Afolabi, is poised to steer the institution towards new heights of excellence.

The board’s arrival will be marked by an interaction with all council members, followed by a courtesy visit to local royal fathers, meetings with Yabatech stakeholders, a tour of the college campuses, and intensive first Council meetings throughout the week.

Professor Afolabi, a renowned academic and expert in educational administration, brings a wealth of experience as a Professor of Geography and Tourism. His leadership is anticipated to invigorate the college’s governance, fostering an environment of academic rigor and infrastructural improvement.

Abdullahi Abdullahi, Senior Deputy Registrar (Information and Publications), detailed that in addition to Professor Afolabi’s appointment, several distinguished Nigerians have been named members of the council. These include Dr. Muhammed Bello Maude, Chief Ebenezer Akinbolade, Saidi Balogun, and Hajia Falmata Wakil. Each member brings diverse expertise and insights crucial for addressing the institution’s challenges and exploring new growth opportunities.

The new Polytechnic Act has also enabled the election of five internal members from the college to the Governing Council. These elected staff include Dr. Moruf Adebakin, Dr. Kayode Aledare, Dr. Adeniyi Fadipe, Barr. Wellington Ikpen, and Mr. Omopariola Olorumbe, each bringing valuable academic and administrative experience.

During the elections, Dr. Abubakar Mobolaji Olaseni, Chairman of the Electoral Committee, emphasized the fairness of the elections. The elected members assured the college community of their commitment to driving the institution towards academic excellence and infrastructural development.
