As part of efforts to promote equity and excellence in the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has rolled out a series of learning support tools, including WAEC Konnect, to help students prepare more effectively for their exams.
Addressing journalists at the Council’s national headquarters during the pre-examination press briefing, the Head of the Nigeria National Office, Dr. Amos Josiah Dangut, stated that WAEC is deepening its investment in digital innovations to enhance candidates’ readiness and performance.
“We are committed to not just administering exams, but also supporting students to succeed,” Dr. Dangut said. “That’s why we have deployed a range of digital tools like WAEC Konnect, the e-Learning Portal, and the Chatbot, to help candidates prepare more strategically.”
WAEC Konnect: Learning Meets Engagement
WAEC Konnect is a multimedia platform designed to engage candidates with curated academic content, exam tips, and updates from WAEC. It aims to make learning accessible and interactive by delivering useful information via social media and other mobile-friendly channels.
“WAEC Konnect is a student-centred initiative. It gives candidates regular tips, study schedules, and updates about their exams in a more relatable, digital format,” Dr. Dangut explained.
The platform has been well received by students and teachers alike, with many praising its ability to keep students focused and informed during the often stressful examination period.
e-Learning Portal and Practice Resources
The Council has also expanded its WAEC e-Learning Portal, which contains a wide range of past questions, chief examiners’ reports, and recommended study guides. Candidates can access these resources for free to help them understand exam patterns and expectations.
Dr. Dangut emphasized the importance of using the Chief Examiners’ Reports to identify common errors and improve performance.
“We strongly advise schools and students to take advantage of these reports and resources to improve their preparation. They contain valuable insights from those who mark the exams,” he said.
AI-Powered Chatbot for 24/7 Support
In a bid to enhance service delivery, WAEC also introduced a Chatbot that offers instant answers to frequently asked questions, including registration support, exam schedules, and result-checking procedures. The chatbot is available 24/7 and is accessible via the Council’s digital platforms.
“With the Chatbot, we are making WAEC more accessible. Candidates can get the help they need any time, without the wait,” said Dr. Dangut.
Inclusive Learning for All
In addition to digital tools, WAEC has tailored learning resources to meet the needs of special candidates, including those with visual and hearing impairments. Special provisions have been made to ensure inclusivity and fairness across the board.
With over 1.9 million candidates registered for the 2025 examination, WAEC says it is ready to support students not only in conducting a credible examination but also in ensuring that no student is left behind in the preparation process.
