UNILAG alumni elects new executives

The University of Lagos Alumni Association, Lagos State branch had elected new executive officers.

The election saw to the election of seven officers concluded in the early hours of Monday amidst several hitches.

Dr Benjamin Olowojebutu emerged the chairman with 242 votes defeating two other contenders – Dr Eniola Akintunde and Dr Andrew Akala who got 130 and 144 votes respectively.

Electoral committee chairman, Professor Fatai Badru also declared other winners who were inaugurated thereafter.

Ms Adeyemi Ajibade was elected Vice Chairman II with 283 votes after defeating Ms Afolashade Adeyemi who had 238 votes.

Mr Ebun Oluranti with 255 votes defeated Ms Abisola AbdulRahman who had 251 votes.

The new Assistant General Secretary is Saheed Akanbi who polled 296 as against 180 by Abraham Adesanya. Another candidate, Adegboyega Atetedaye had earlier withdrawn from the election.

The office of Publicity Secretary would be managed by Mr Adekunle Onikoyi who had 201 votes beating the trio of Ms Viola Akhigbe, Mr Anthony Emili and Mr Emmanuel Adeyinka who scored 114, 182 and 20 votes respectively.

Dr Priscilla Eitokpah emerged Welfare Officer with 269 votes after defeating Ms Motunrayo Sulaiman with 239 votes.

The position of Treasurer is to filled by Mr Salvador who scored 261 votes as against the 256 by Mr Ayanbanjo.

Olowojebutu promises all inclusive administration

The newly elected chairman, Dr Olowojebutu, at a brief meeting with his executive members shortly after the swearing-in ceremony that took place at the ETC centre of the University of Lagos shortly after the elections said he is going to run an all inclusive administration.

In his words, “it is understandable we all came from different backgrounds, different teams but what is paramount now is not the divides but the cohesion in getting the best for the Unilag brand that brings us together”

Olowojebutu further stated that all executives must be ready to give in their very best. He described himself as leader who listens a lot and he is ready and open to innovative ideas for a greater Alumni Association.

Dr Jebz, as he is popularly called, also noted that his administration was going to be about impact.

He also stated that in no distant time the guidelines for programmes from Investment Plan, Leadership summit and other programmes as well as details of courtesy visits would be rolled out soon as we are getting to work now and not later.
