The management of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) said the institution is formulating policies that would enable graduands compete technically anywhere in the world.
This was just as the institution disclosed that it has produced over 350,000 graduands since its inception in 1970.
Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Lilian Salami, stated this during an interactive session with journalists in Benin City head of the school’s 50 years Founders’ Day anniversary.
Salami said, “Uniben prides itself with where our graduates are placed right now. A lot of them are CEOs of big establishment, we have had governors and ministers.
“The institution came into existence in 1970 when it was Bendel institute of technology. About 1971 the federal government took over, and in 1973, it became University of Benin.
“At that time, the pioneer founder and visionary was initially for manpower and technological development. Beyond that, it was not expanded to include the production of quality marketable and innovative graduates.”
“I am the 10th Vice Chancellor of this institution. These persons (founders) have worked tirelessly to bring the University of Benin to where it is right now.
“Abinitio, the number of students was only 108 with a Staff strength of less than 20 then.
“But, today, we have grown. Still counting, we have over 45,000 students, Staff strength of over 8000 and 15 faculties.”For information on Press Releases, Photos, Promotional Events and Adverts, Please Call or Send a Text to 09052129258, 08124662170 or send an email to: firstname.lastname@example.org
