The Faculty of Education at the University of Ibadan (UI) has honored 33 students for their exceptional academic performances and recognized 7 lecturers for their outstanding contributions during the second edition of the Dean’s Prize and Award Ceremony.

The event, held on Friday, was attended by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode Adebowale; former Vice-Chancellor, Professor Idowu Olayinka; deans from other faculties; and heads of departments. The ceremony aimed to motivate both students and faculty members to strive for excellence.

Speaking at the event, the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Olufemi Adegbesan, emphasized the significance of the awards in fostering a culture of dedication and achievement within the faculty.

“Today, we had the second edition of the Dean’s Prize and Award Ceremony, an eventful programme. 33 students from eleven programmes were given prizes and certificates for their outstanding performance in their various levels. Each of the students got N50,000 and a certificate to back it up,” he said.

Professor Adegbesan further noted that there was also a special prize for the best student in a specific course within one of the departments.

Additionally, awards were presented to seven lecturers, ranging from assistant lecturers to senior lecturers, with one lecturer receiving the title of “Most Outstanding.”
