The Lagos State Government has announced that students seeking transfer screening into public secondary schools in the state will undergo a screening test in August.
This test is to determine their fitness for the class they applied for in the state-owned Secondary Schools.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mrs. Adebunmi Adekanye who made this known on Friday at the Conference Room of Ministry of Education, said that Applicants are to obtain clearance slip from the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary Office in their respective education districts for school of choice in other to make the process a lot easier.
Applicants should contact district of choice for clearance before payment. Forms, according to her, would be obtained and returned to the office of the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary of the Education District of the proposed school of the applicants for a non-refundable fee of Five Thousand Naira (N5, 000) only, payable to any Skye Bank Branch, Account No: 4030010449, Agency Code: 4280000 and Sort Code: 32534/4040043.
Mrs Adekanye told EduCeleb.com that payment and collection of forms will commence on Friday, 20th July, 2018 while submission of same will close on Friday, 17th August, 2018.
Applicants for transfer into JSS2 class are to attach 2nd and 3rd term promotion examination results of JSS1 class and those seeking transfer into SS1 will attach Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) Number.
In addition, all applicants are to attach evidence of 3 years tax payment of their parent or guardian, Photocopy of LASSRA Identity Card and receipt for the application form.
Parents of successful applicants will be notified through text messages to the phone number supplied by them.
The Permanent Secretary noted admission is only given when there are still spaces available.
In her words, “It should be noted however, that, Admission is subject to vacancy in the proposed school.
Thus, applicants are advised to seek vacancy clearance at the District Office of the proposed school before paying for the transfer form.”
She added that no transfer would be entertained into Model Colleges in the state as well as into JSS3 and SS3. It is also not applicable to international schools and schools outside Lagos.
“Students and parents are enjoined to note that there won’t be transfer into Model Colleges/Upgraded Schools, JSS3 and SS2 classes. Also, there will be no inter-state or International school transfer.”
