A 17-year-old student at a private school in Thailand’s Uthai Thani province violently assaulted his mathematics teacher on Monday, August 5, after she refused to change his grade on a recent exam.

The incident occurred when the Grade 11 student received a score of 18 out of 20 on a midterm test. Although his answers were correct, the teacher deducted points because he failed to show his problem-solving steps, in accordance with standard grading practices.

After the student demanded an explanation, the teacher advised him to confirm her marking policy with other faculty members. When other teachers supported her method, the student returned to the classroom and insisted she increase his grade.

When the teacher stood by her decision, the student became aggressive, kicking a desk before storming out. He returned minutes later and demanded an apology.

“Who should be apologising?” the teacher replied.

The student then launched a brutal physical attack, punching the teacher 17 times in the head and body and delivering a forceful kick to her torso. The assault was witnessed by approximately 20 students.

The teacher was rushed to a local hospital with broken ribs, a bruised eye, and significant head swelling. She has since filed a police report.
