Sokoto pays WAEC, NECO N748m

The Sokoto state government has paid over N748million as examination fees to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and National Examinations Council (NECO).

Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr MB Abubakar Guiwa, who announced this in a statement on Thursday, said the amount was for NECO Senior School Certificate Examination in 2019 as well as 2020 WAEC and NECO examinations.

He said that all candidates that sat for the examinations can go online to check their results.

Dr Bello Guiwa said with this development successful candidates could apply for admission into tertiary institutions in good time.

He therefore urged all stakeholders to continue to play their part to justify the huge resources being spent by government on education.

Also commenting, the Director of Examinations of the Ministry, Malam Shehu Mohammed Lema, said all candidates can click to see their results by the end of this week.

According to him, no student had a case of withheld result.
