The Oyo State Government has cancelled all contracts awarded for various infrastructural facilities across the state under the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (Oyo SUBEB) in 2018.

Chairman of Oyo SUBEB, Nureni Adeniran disclosed in a statement made available to EduCeleb.com on Tuesday that that was as a result of what the government called “irregularities”.

He informed “all vendors who submitted tenders for the 2018 FGN-UBEC/OYOSUBEB Intervention Projects for various infrastructural facilities to be provided in the Public Primary and Junior Secondary Schools that the initial tendering process is hereby nullified because of irregularities.”

He added that the Oyo SUBEB will make another advertisement for the 2018 FGN-UBEC/OYOSUBEB Intervention Projects later.

“The Board is committed to ensuring acquisition of goods and/or services through transparency, openness, integrity and strict compliance to the Public Procurement Act,” he stated.

EduCeleb.com recalls that the state government had announced an invitation for tenders in September 2018 and had selected contractors who had commenced work thereafter.

It is not immediately clear if the government had paid all sums for the works done by the vendors so far.
