The management of the Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology (BOUESTI), Ikere-Ekiti, has inaugurated Professor Babatunde Andrew Omojola as the institution’s second substantive Vice-Chancellor, marking a new phase in the university’s leadership and development.
The formal ceremony, held at the university campus in Ekiti State, was presided over by the Chairman of the Governing Council, Professor Dipo Aina, following a rigorous selection process that shortlisted 19 candidates for the position.
In his inaugural address, Prof. Omojola described his appointment as a profound responsibility, pledging to steer the university through a new era of transformation and growth. He expressed gratitude to the Ekiti State Government under Governor Biodun Oyebanji and the Governing Council for the confidence reposed in him, noting BOUESTI’s remarkable rise to 29th position among Nigerian universities within five years, despite operating without a take-off grant.
Outlining his administration’s priorities, the new Vice-Chancellor said his focus would be on research-driven innovation, internally generated revenue, wealth creation, staff and student welfare, and stable labour-management relations. He emphasised his vision of building BOUESTI into a world-class, knowledge-based, research-oriented and entrepreneurial university.
“My vision for BOUESTI is to build a world-class university with qualitative teaching, cutting-edge research, and innovation-oriented entrepreneurship. Excellence is not a destination; it is a shared and ongoing journey,” he said.
Professor Aina, in his remarks, urged Prof. Omojola to lead with wisdom and purpose, expressing confidence that his leadership would further consolidate BOUESTI’s status as a leading institution in education, science and technology in Ekiti State and beyond.
He also commended the pioneer Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olufemi Adeoluwa, for laying a solid academic and administrative foundation that has supported the university’s early growth and stability.
The inauguration signals a fresh chapter for BOUESTI, with expectations of measurable improvements in academic excellence, research productivity, infrastructure development and student welfare.
