This was contained in a letter made available to newsmen in Umuahia and signed by the National President of the NUT, Dr Nasir Idris, and the Secretary General, Dr Mike Ene.

The union decried the plight of teachers in Abia State, demanding an immediate defrayment of other allowances owed secondary and basic school teachers in the state.

Meanwhile, the state leadership of the NUT and its branches at the local government level held joint meetings on December 16 , 17 , 2020 in Umuahia on the way forward .

Similar meetings were held with the local government education authorities at various branches of the union .
