The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has indefinitely postponed its 2018/2019 Academic Session convocation ceremonies as a result of coronavirus ravaging parts of the world.

Registrar of the University, Felix Edoka, in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja, said over 25,000 students were to be graduated at the 9th convocation ceremonies, scheduled for 20th and 21st March, 2020.

Mr Edoka said the Governing Council and Senate of the University jointly took the decision in view of the health dangers inherent in the gathering of a large number of people at this time.

In his words, “The National Open University of Nigeria wishes to inform the general public, especially our over 25,000 graduating students, that the 9th convocation ceremonies, scheduled for March 20 and 21, 2020 have been postponed indefinitely.

“Council and Senate jointly took the decision in view of the health dangers inherent in the gathering of a large number of people at this time.

“The inconvenience caused our graduating students, family and friends is regretted,” he said.
