The Nigeria French Language Village (NFLV) has appointed Prof. Samuel Kolawole as its new Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
According to a statement by Mrs. Sessi Fagbeji-Agemo, Deputy Registrar (Information and Protocol), Kolawole will take over from Prof. Lateef Ayeleru, whose tenure ends on February 12, 2025.
The announcement followed the eighth regular Council meeting of the institution, where Mr. Ibikunle Oyeleke was also appointed as the new Bursar for the NFLV.
Commendation for Outgoing Director
The Council Chairman, Alhaji Labiru Kafur, praised the transparent and diligent selection process that led to the appointment of the new officers.
He also commended Prof. Ayeleru for his contributions to the growth and academic excellence of the institution.
“Under his leadership, the Village, for the first time, produced six professors, a significant milestone in its academic development,” Kafur said.
Academic Partnerships and Development
Former Chairperson of the Governing Council, Prof. Remi Sonaiya, highlighted recent engagements between the NFLV and French academic institutions, facilitated through Campus France.
She described these partnerships as crucial for the Village’s re-admission into the TETFund-funded tertiary institutions list, which could unlock further development opportunities.
Prof. Sonaiya also urged the new leadership to embrace excellence in infrastructure and academics, ensuring that the institution remains a hub for French language studies in Nigeria.
With his new role, Prof. Kolawole is expected to build on the achievements of his predecessor and advance the institution’s mission.
