Some graduates of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso have been disallowed from continuing their registration at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) camp in Bayelsa State over some document details discrepancies.
Speaking with EduCeleb.com, one of the corps members who preferred not to be named revealed that his colleagues from the Department of Mathematics could not carry on with their registration because their Statement of Result indicated that they did Statistics while their NYSC Call Up letter stated that they studied Mathematics.
“All statistics students from LAUTECH were not allowed to carry on with their registration in Bayelsa State camp as a result of the contradictory course.”
“The LAUTECH graduates were denied registration since Thursday because Mathematics was written on their certificate or Statement of Result, while statistics was on their Call Up Letter,” he said.
The affected corp members said they immediately contacted the LAUTECH management via mail and the management had reached out to the NYSC to harmonise the registration process. Despite that, they were still stuck with their registration.
“We’ve called our school and the school has sent a mail to NYSC. There was a reply. But the NYSC officials insisted that the discrepancy was not from the NYSC but LAUTECH because a memo had been sent around by NYSC not to register PCM with contradictory course,” our source said.
They have appealed to both the management of the NYSC and LAUTECH to resolve the pending issues so as to make them commence their service year immediately.
