The Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, and her husband, Hon. Tunji Bello, have been selected for prestigious honours at the 2025 University of Ibadan Alumni Honours and Awards Ceremony.
The ceremony is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, 3 December 2025, in Abuja and will bring together eminent alumni and distinguished personalities from across Nigeria and beyond.
Professor Olatunji-Bello, an alumna of the , was nominated for the coveted “Worthy Ambassador” Award in recognition of her exceptional leadership, dedicated service, and outstanding contributions to academic excellence and institutional development. Since assuming office as Vice-Chancellor of LASU in 2021, she has been widely acknowledged for driving strategic reforms, expanding academic infrastructure, and strengthening the university’s national and international profile.
Her husband, Hon. Tunji Bello, will receive the “Meritorious Service” Award in acknowledgment of his long-standing record of public service and impactful leadership. He has served the Lagos State Government in various capacities, including as Commissioner and Secretary to the State Government, and currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Vice-Chairman of the , where he has overseen critical regulatory and consumer-protection reforms.
The awards ceremony will be chaired by His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto, while special honourees at the event include His Excellency, Senator Kashim Shettima, Vice President of Nigeria, and His Excellency, Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, among other distinguished national leaders.
