For the third time in a row, delegates from the Lagos State University (LASU) have again emerged best at the Nigerian International Tertiary Institutions Model United Nations(NITIMUN).

The event held between 7th and 12th December in Abuja had delegations from various public and private tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

With the theme, “Engaging young people in promoting peace and countering extremism”, the 12th International Conference provided a platform for participants to discuss issues affecting youths in member-countries of the United Nations.

At the International Conference, students who became Delegates assumed the positions of Ambassadors of different countries who are members of the UN.

EduCeleb.com recalls that LASU had won the best student delegation award during the 2017 and 2018 editions of the conference.

Interestingly, the school presented seventeen representatives different from those who had previously represented it.

An official of the school, Olaniyi Jeariogbe revealed that the representatives were carefully selected by the school management.

In the words of Mr Jeariogbe who was also the staff adviser for the delegates, “These brilliant, committed and determined young minds with the approval of the Committee of Provost and Deans (CoPD) and University Management decided to represent their Great Citadel of Learning at this critical period of their examination and Life.”

LASU Vice Chancellor, Olanrewaju Fagbohun has since congratulated the institution’s delegates to the NITMUN Conference “for once again making the University proud”.

Fagbohun, a law professor, noted that the performance of the team and their advisers was “praiseworthy and reflective of the hardwork, excellence and the ‘can-do’ spirit that the Lagos State University has come to be known for, in recent years.”

He further stated that, “Their success at the NITMUN is the hallmark of greatness and I have no doubt that ahead of each and every member of the team, lies a bright future.”

The Vice Chancellor, alongside an expanded Management Team will host the Delegation to a lunch on a soon-to-be-announced date.
