A 500-level student of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, Emmanuel Aanu Ajayi, has emerged as a recipient of the Federal Ministry of Education’s Student Venture Capital Grant, securing funding worth N50 million.
Ajayi, a student of Electrical and Computer Engineering, won the grant at an event held at the UNDP Innovation Hub in Lagos on 29 March 2026 during the official unveiling of the initiative by the Federal Ministry of Education.
The student, who also serves as a research assistant at KWASU’s Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Systems, was recognised for his solar power station project. The innovation utilises upcycled electronic waste to deliver affordable and reliable electricity to homes and businesses.
Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor of KWASU, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, expressed delight at the student’s achievement.
He noted that Ajayi had previously distinguished himself and brought honour to the university, adding that his latest feat was a testament to his commitment and ingenuity.
The Vice-Chancellor congratulated the student and urged other KWASU students to strive for excellence and contribute meaningfully to the growth and reputation of the institution.
