The kidnappers of four students of Kogi State Polytechnic have demanded a N16 million ransom before releasing them.

The quartet who were kidnapped in Ondo State last Friday were travelling along the Akunnu-Ajowa road, in the Akoko area of Ondo State.

The students are said to be returning home for the yuletide when the gunmen ambushed them at the Ago Jinadu Axis of the town.

EduCeleb.com gathered that the four students are all female, and their names of the victims are Florence Obadero, Oreoluwa Aregbesola, Ifeoluwa Ahmed, and Omotoyosi Olarotimi.

The gunmen have reportedly established contact with their families and they are demanding the sum of four million naira each from them before they could be released.

The section of the road has been a nightmare for motorists transiting through the route to Kogi and Abuja due to the notorious activities of armed bandits for some time.

Concerted pressure have been mounted on the security agencies in both Kogi and Ondo states to nip this menace on the bud.

Muri Agboola, the Assistant Commissioner of Police in Ondo, while confirming the kidnap of the students, said the detectives from the police command have already swung into action intending to rescue the victims.

“The incident occurred in the Ago-Jinadu area of Akoko but our men are already in the push coming to the area. I can assure you that they would be rescued,” Mr Agboola said.
