Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has appointed Professor Abubakar Sani Sambo as the new Commissioner for Education in a minor cabinet reshuffle aimed at strengthening key sectors in the state, especially education.

The announcement was made on Wednesday via a statement from the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ibraheem Musa.

Prof. Sambo, a seasoned academic and former Vice Chancellor of both Kaduna State University and Bauchi State University, replaces Prof. Sani Bello, who has been reassigned to lead the newly reinstated Ministry of Information. That ministry was previously scrapped under former governor Nasir El-Rufai but has now been revived to enhance the government’s communication efforts.

The new Education Commissioner brings with him a wealth of experience from various academic and administrative roles, including stints at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, and as Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria. He is known for his work on both national and international platforms related to energy and education.

Meanwhile, Barrister Gloria Ibrahim, a lawyer and conflict resolution expert, has been appointed Commissioner for Youth Development. Her legal background and advocacy for youth and child rights position her as a promising addition to the cabinet.
