The Kaduna State Government has denied rumours making the rounds suggesting that it is planning to rename the State University as “Magajin Gari Sambo University”.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Phoebe Yayi disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.
According to her, the news is mischievous misinformation.
“The Ministry of Education, the Kaduna State House of Assembly, the Secretary to the State Government, the Registrar of KASU, and the University management all attributed to the news are disassociating themselves from the fake report and wish to inform the public that the Commissioner never made any disclosure of such kind to anyone as the State has no plan to rename the University for now.
“The ministry is warning those behind this mischievous misinformation to desist from spreading such false reports or be prepared to face the wrath of the law,” she said.
Also, the management of KASU has denied the reports as well.
“The Management of Kaduna State University wishes to notify the public that the news of the renaming of the university from Kaduna State University to Magajin Garin Zazzau Sambo University is fake news”, the Registrar of the institution, Mr Samuel Manshop, said in a statement in Kaduna, on Sunday.
“The public is hereby urged to disregard the information as it is the handiwork of mischief- makers,” Manshop said.
In a related development, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Muhammad Tanko, has equally disassociated himself from a Facebook Account recently opened in his name.
“The public is hereby warned to disregard the account. It is the handiwork of miscreants and mischief makers,” Tanko said, in a statement, also on Sunday.
