Imbubé African book festival and award is set to join the burgeoning African literary scene.
Imbube, Zulu word for lion, is a reference to the critical role literature has come to play in telling the African story, ensuring that stories from the continent are told, owned and read by her people.
The Imbube festival and award is aimed at celebrating African arts, literature and discussing their impact on the continent.
Speakers from diverse genres will participate in the book festival which will take place on Saturday, October 28 at the National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos.
It will feature TED-style talks by members of the literary community, panel discussions, award sessions for short story writers, exhibitions and book signing.
Some of the speakers expected are Toni Kan, author of The Carnivorous City; Okechukwu Ofili, author and CEO of Okada Books; Adebola Williams, co-founder of Red Media Africa; Edirin Edewor, Amazon bestselling author.
Others are Ini Akpan, editor, SW Advantage Resources, Silas Okwoche, co-founder, Nerve Mobile; Steve Harris, author and life coach.
The theme of the book festival and award is ‘Literature as a Pillar for Africa’s Creative Economy’.
