Gombe appoints UNIMAID VC as SSG

The Government of Gombe State has appointed the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID), Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

This is according to a statement sent to EduCeleb.com Sunday night and signed by Director, Administrator and Finance at the Government House, Mohammed Umar.

The statement noted that Executive Governor of Gombe, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya also approved the appointment of eleven other officials in various capacities.

Njodi is officially billed to leave his office at UNIMAID on Monday, 3rd June when his tenure as Vice-Chancellor expires.

For the past five years, the professor of Health Education had managed the University achieving giant strides that had attracted the institution commendations.

The most recent of such was the award by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) as the most compliant with admission regulations.

Njodi who hails from Kaltungo in Gombe holds the traditional titles of the Shettiman Ilmuye of Borno and Dan Rimin Kaltungo.

Other appointees are Bappayo Yahaya as the Head of Service and Mohammed Kabir Usman Kukandaka as the Chief of Staff.

Usman Kamara is the Principal Private Secretary while Ismaila Misili is the Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity to the Gombe State governor.

Four Special Assistants (Media) who would also be working with the governor are Kabiru Ibn Muhammad, Suleiman Musa, Bintu Aliyu Sunmonu, and Jack Tasha.

Musa Habibu and Yakubu Ibrahim Sarki were both appointed as Special Assistant (Protocol) while Sani Garba was also designated a Special Assistant.

The statement noted that their appointment is with immediate effect.
