The Federal University, Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), has cleared Ramota Olahanloye, a final-year student, to graduate after she accused a lecturer, Dr. Anthony Agbegbedia, of failing her in two courses for refusing his alleged sexual advances.

The university confirmed in a statement issued on Friday by Dr. Wole Balogun, Special Adviser on Media to the Vice-Chancellor, that Olahanloye’s claims were investigated, leading to a re-marking of her scripts.

“The young lady’s scripts were re-marked, and she performed fairly better than the scores initially awarded by Dr. Anthony Agbegbedia,” the statement read.

Following the re-marking, the university approved her revised results, qualifying her for graduation.

“She has since commenced her final clearance from relevant units of the university,” Balogun added.

Dr. Agbegbedia, who was accused of the misconduct, has been sanctioned, though details of the punishment were not disclosed.

Student and Family React

Expressing her relief, Olahanloye said, “I am happy that I have gotten justice, and I really appreciate the university Vice-Chancellor for setting up the committee that investigated the matter. I have started my clearance as a graduating student, and I am truly happy.”

Her father, Rasaki Olahanloye, also lauded FUOYE for its commitment to fairness. “I can confirm to the world that FUOYE has served justice to my daughter. The university fulfilled its promise to ensure fairness, and I appreciate the VC, Prof. Sunday Fasina, and the committee members for their efforts,” he said.
