The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full approval to some academic programmes at the Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti.
A letter signed by the NUC Director of Accreditation, Dr Maryam Sali, on behalf of the Executive Secretary, addressed to EKSU Vice Chancellor, Prof Edward Olanipekun, stated that courses that got full accreditation status included undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
The affected undergraduate programmes are Law, Civil Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Geology, Psychology, Building and Woodwork Technology Education, Education Christian Religious Studies, Electrical/Electronic Technology Education, Metal and Auto Mechanic Technology Education, Arabic Studies, Islamic Studies and Philosophy.
A statement from the Head, EKSU Directorate of Information, Bode Olofinmuagun, listed the affected postgraduate programmes as M.Sc. (Banking and Finance); Master of Business Administration; M.Sc.(Business Administration); Master of Personnel Management; and Master of Public Administration.
Olofinmuagun said that the Chairman of the institution’s Governing Council, Prof Bamitale Omole, and the vice chancellor gave the assurance that EKSU would not compromise academic standards.
The NUC, which has the statutory mandate to accredit academic programmes in Nigerian universities, conducted the accreditation of the EKSU programmes in October/November, 2019.
Olofinmuagun said that the EKSU played host to various accreditation teams from the NUC late last year.
He also said that the governing council, at its virtual meeting presided over by Omole, received the news of the full accreditation of the programmes with joy.
