Ekiti gov appoints Prof Ayodele as new EKSU Vice Chancellor

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has approved the appointment of Professor Joseph Babatola Ayodele as the new Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti. The appointment will take effect on August 20, 2024.

He will succeed Professor Edward Olanipekun, whose tenure as Vice Chancellor ends on August 19, 2024.

Ayodele, a distinguished scholar in Education Management, currently serves as the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) at EKSU.

Born on August 13, 1963, in Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Ayodele has a robust academic background. He attended Annunciation School in Ikere-Ekiti and later pursued his Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) at the Ondo State College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti, between 1982 and 1985.

He earned a First Class Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree in Economics from Ondo State University (now Ekiti State University) in 1992.

His academic journey continued at the University of Ibadan, where he obtained a Master’s degree in Education Management in 1997 and a Ph.D. in the same field in 2000.

Professor Ayodele began his teaching career as a Graduate Assistant at Ondo State University in 1995, progressing through the ranks to become a Professor in 2012.

Over the years, he has held various key positions within the university, including Assistant Director of Affiliate Programmes, Acting Head of the Department of Educational Foundations and Management, Dean of the Faculty of Education, Director of Continuing Education Programmes/Distance Learning, and most recently, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic).

Governor Oyebanji, who also serves as the Visitor to the University, expressed confidence in Professor Ayodele’s ability to leverage his extensive experience as an academic and administrator to advance EKSU’s status as a leading institution of learning.

He wished the incoming Vice Chancellor a successful tenure and expressed gratitude to the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Professor Edward Olanipekun, for his dedicated service to the university.
