The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has partnered with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to ease the national service for Nigerian students in the Diaspora who have completed their studies.
The chairman/CEO of NIDCOM, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, disclosed this when he paid a courtesy visit to the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps in Abuja on Monday.
A statement from the commission quoted Mrs Dabiri-Erewa as acknowledging that the second and third generations of Nigerian youths in the Diaspora needed to be properly and adequately sensitised on the importance of coming back home and contribute to the growth and development of their country.
She further requested the establishment of a Diaspora-NYSC Desk Office for stronger and better collaboration between the two agencies.
Meanwhile, NYSC Director-General Brigadier-General Shuaibu Ibrahim assured his guest that the NYSC would create Diaspora Desk Office and engage NIDCOM in robust sensitisation of Nigerian youths in the Diaspora to come back home for National Service.
