The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has introduced the electronic processing of certificate for candidates who write its exams.

With this development, candidates need not necessarily approach a WAEC office anymore to obtain their certificate.

This service, which is managed by WAEC Nigeria is coordinated through its Electronic Certificate Management System (ECMS).

EduCeleb.com understands that WAEC conducts three series of the West African Senior School Certificate (WASSCE) annually – two for private candidates and one for school candidates.

The ECMS is an online portal being deployed to enable private candidates request for their certificates online.

School candidates would still have to approach their respective schools where they sat for their papers whenever their certificates were ready for processing and collection.

WAEC Head of National Office in Nigeria, Mr Olu Adenipekun disclosed shortly after the announced release of the 2020 WASSCE for Private Candidates – First Series results that request for the electronic certificate would be addressed beginning with the WASSCE conducted between January and February this year.

The collection of certificates would be based on requests by candidates online via the ECMS platform.

WAEC is working in partnership with the Nigeria Postal Service (NIPOST) to make the transaction seamless.
