Buhari assents bill to establish Modibbo Adama varsity

President Muhammadu Buhari has assented a bill to convert Modibbo Adama University of Technology (MAUTECH) Yola to Modibbo Adama University and make it run medical programmes.

The bill was sponsored by Aishatu Ahmed Dahiru Binani, Senator representing Adamawa Central.

Binani who was so elated and confirmed the development to our reporter said her time, efforts, and struggle for the establishment of the medical school has never been in vain since her seventh Assembly days while a house of representatives lawmaker representing Yola South, Yola North, and Girei Local Government Areas federal government.

“This, therefore, means the University can run all approved academic programs as any other conventional university in the country including medical and any other allied sciences.

“On behalf of the people of Adamawa and Taraba states, Mr. President we remain eternally grateful for this gesture. This will no doubt encourage our teeming youths seeking placement in tertiary institution, especially in these difficult times.” Aishatu said

The Senator who recently empowered 1,667 constituents with start-up parks to be self-reliant and create jobs for themselves and others said her joy no knows bound as one of her prayers has been answered being a senior lawmaker in the hallow red Chambers of National Assembly.

While thanking God for making one of her dreams at the National Assembly a reality, she also expressed much gratitude to her colleagues, most especially the Senate President, Dr Ahmed Lawan, and Senator Ishaku Abbo of Adamawa Northern zone, Sen Binos Dauda Yaroe representing the Southern zone and all House of Representatives members from Adamawa for giving her the needed support all through the struggles of the bill.

The only female Senator in the entire nineteen Northern states equally vowed and reiterated her commitment to giving a people inclined representation in the remaining years of her tenure.

She added that, ”I want to assure my constituents that I will never relent. I must work the work no matter what to the overall interest of my people and my dear country.”
