Adamu Ahmed appointed as new Vice-Chancellor of ABU Zaria

Professor Adamu Ahmed has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, succeeding Prof. Kabir Bala.

The appointment was announced on Wednesday during the 209th (Special) Council meeting, presided over by the Chairman of the Governing Council, Mahmud Yayale Ahmed.

According to a statement by the university’s Director of Public Affairs, Malam Auwalu Umar, Prof. Ahmed, a lecturer in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, previously served as the Director of the Directorate of University Advancement. He is also the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Education, Kano.

Stakeholders React

Ahmed’s appointment has been met with widespread approval, with many describing him as an experienced academic and administrator.

“Professor Ahmed is a round peg in a round hole,” a university source remarked. “He has the experience, expertise, and passion to lead ABU to greater heights.”

His tenure is expected to focus on strengthening academic excellence, research, and institutional development at one of Nigeria’s premier universities.
