The TETFund Centre of Excellence for Technology-Enhanced Learning (TeCETEL), based at the Federal University of Education, Zaria, on Monday hosted a delegation from the TETFund Centre of Excellence for New Pedagogy in Engineering at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, in a visit aimed at exploring areas of collaboration.
The delegation, led by Prof. F. O. Anafi, was received by the Director of TeCETEL, Dr. Ilesanmi Ajibola, alongside the Centre’s Administrative Officer, Barr. Mohammad Saminu Abubakar.
Speaking during the visit, Prof. Anafi explained that the engagement formed part of ABU’s effort to understudy the operational structure and systems of TeCETEL as it works towards strengthening its own Centre of Excellence.
He noted that the ABU centre is keen on adopting innovative teaching and learning models and therefore seeks to learn from TeCETEL’s achievements, systems, and pedagogical frameworks.
In his response, Dr. Ajibola briefed the visiting team on TeCETEL’s operational philosophy, core activities, and developmental strategies.
He highlighted several ongoing programmes and innovations at the Centre, including its flagship SmartCampus application, which is now available on the Google Play Store.
He further emphasised the Centre’s commitment to building the capacity of both staff and students through continuous professional development and technology-driven learning initiatives.
Dr. Ajibola also disclosed that TeCETEL has established strategic partnerships with reputable local and international institutions.
The ABU delegation later embarked on a guided tour of TeCETEL’s facilities, where they visited the administrative offices, conference halls, SmartClass, and the Control Room to understudy the Centre’s technological infrastructure and workflow.
Members of the visiting team included Prof. A. O. Eberemu and Dr. D. O. Obala. The visitors, who expressed strong satisfaction with the level of organisation and innovation at TeCETEL, commended the management of the Centre and indicated keen interest in fostering sustained collaboration towards the successful development of ABU’s Centre of Excellence.
