UBEC supportive of Lagos in eradicating illiteracy, SUBEB says

The Executive Chairman, Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB), Wahab Alawiye-King has commended the Universal Basic Education Commission for its support in eradicating illiteracy in the state.

He particularly praised the federal agency for making it possible for Lagos SUBEB to acquire the two buses recently purchased for the Basic Education Quality Assurance Department to effectively monitor primary schools in Lagos State.

The Chairman gave the commendation while welcoming the Executive Secretary of UBEC, Dr Hamid Bobboyi, who was on a courtesy visit to his Maryland office during the week.

Earlier, Dr. Hamid Bobboyi applauded the Board for maintaining efficiency towards the realisation of the goals of the Universal Basic Education programme in the country.

He noted that the activities of the present Board under the Chairmanship of Mr Alawiye-King and his formidable team is a true reflection of the mantra “Leave No Child Behind”.

While reiterating that Lagos State has always been a trailblazer, the Executive Secretary lauded the initiatives in the education sector, especially the EkoExcel and Home Grown School Feeding Programme aimed at increasing the enrollment of pupils in school.
