The Lagos State University (LASU) has dismissed three senior lecturers over allegations of sexual misconduct. They are Dr Ayoola Sunkanmi Odubunmi, Dr Isiaka Ajani Ogunwande, and Dr Emmanuel Orilade Gbeleyi.
This dismissal is based on the decision of its Governing Council during its 119th Statutory Meeting held on Thursday, 4th October, 2018 in Lagos.
While Dr Odubunmi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics, Dr Ogunwande is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at LASU. For Dr Gbeleyi, he is a Lecturer II at the Department of Anatomy, Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM), Ikeja, Lagos
A statement from the university’s spokesman, Ademola Adekola made available to EduCeleb.com on Tuesday indicates that the dismissal followed due investigations into the allegations against the trio.
Mr Adekoya also noted in the statement of the promotion and recruitment of members of staff of the University.

SEXUAL MISCONDUCT: LASU GOVERNING COUNCIL APPROVES THE DISMISSAL OF THREE (3) ACADEMIC STAFF
As 49 other Academic Staff, 200 Non-Academic Staff get promotion,
29 gets new positions after Internal Recruitment.
The Lagos State University Governing Council at its 119th Statutory Meeting held on Thursday, 4th October, 2018, approved the Dismissal of three (3) Academic Staff of the University for various offences, bothering on Sexual Harassment and Misconduct, as recommended by the Joint Council/Senate (Academic) Disciplinary Committee.
Those dismissed are: Dr. Odubunmi, Ayoola Sunkanmi, Associate Professor, Department of Economics; Dr. Ogunwande Isiaka Ajani, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry and Dr. Gbeleyi Emmanuel Orilade, Lecturer II, Department of Anatomy, Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM), Ikeja, Lagos.
The Council also approved the promotion of Forty-Nine (49) Academic Staff and Two Hundred (200) Non-Academic Staff into various positions.
In a similar development, Twenty-Nine (29) Non-Academic Staff of the University have benefited from an Internal Recruitment Exercise recently conducted by the University. They include Eighteen (18) Administrative Officers II, Three (3) Technologists II, Four (4) System Analysts, Two (2) Academic Planning Officers II and Two (2) Industrial Liaison Officers.
The current Lagos State University Authority by this development has further demonstrated its zero-tolerance for sexual harassment and general indiscipline and the drive to continually promote the welfare of both deserving staff and students of the institution.
