In a bold step toward deepening digital transformation and improving administrative efficiency, the Lagos State University (LASU) has unveiled the LASU eNotifier — a new online communication platform designed to facilitate seamless interaction between Heads of Departments (HoDs) and students across all levels.

Developed by the University’s Directorate of ICT, the eNotifier enables HoDs to send real-time messages directly from their official portals to students’ result dashboards. This innovation ensures that every student receives departmental notices, academic updates, and administrative directives without delay or dependence on unofficial channels.

According to the Directorate, the eNotifier was conceived to “strengthen structured communication within the University community and ensure that vital information reaches students promptly and securely.”

The Examination and Records Department is also expected to use the platform for targeted communication with specific student categories, such as those awaiting results or clearance.

Speaking on the initiative, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, commended the ICT Directorate for the innovation and urged all Heads of Departments to make effective use of the platform.

She reiterated that timely communication is critical to LASU’s mission of building “a globally competitive, technology-driven institution that prioritises efficiency, responsiveness, and student-centred service delivery.”

The platform offers a range of advantages, including improved information flow, centralised communication, transparent record-keeping, and enhanced accountability. By operating within the University’s secure ICT ecosystem, it also guarantees message authenticity and data privacy.

Under the new system, HoDs can log in through their official portals, compose messages, select target levels, and send notifications with just a few clicks. Students, on their part, can access these messages by logging into their result portals, where new notifications appear in a mail-like format for easy visibility.

The eNotifier eliminates the need for third-party messaging platforms or social media groups that often contribute to misinformation or communication lapses. It also creates a digital record of departmental correspondence, helping to promote transparency and efficiency in academic administration.

By bridging the communication gap between administrators and students, LASU is reinforcing its commitment to modernising internal processes and improving the overall student experience.

The eNotifier marks another milestone in the university’s ongoing digital evolution — a reflection of its resolve to remain at the forefront of innovation within Nigeria’s higher education landscape.
