The (LASU) has once again affirmed its leadership in digital transformation and academic innovation after emerging as The Octagon Media Most Digitally Innovative Nigerian University of the Year 2025.
The prestigious honour was presented at the 12th Anniversary and Champions Awards Ceremony of the , which held on Thursday, 27 November 2025, at Lagos.
The award recognises LASU’s remarkable advances in digital innovation, the integration of educational technologies, and its consistent efforts at enhancing teaching, learning, research, and administration through modern digital platforms.
It also reflects the university’s commitment to promoting digital literacy, improving administrative efficiency, and leveraging technology for community engagement and societal impact.
Representatives of The Octagon Media Group, in their citation at the ceremony, commended LASU for its exemplary digitised educational practices, institutional integrity, innovation, and dedication to national development.
They noted that these qualities have earned the university wide admiration and positioned it as a reference point for digital progress in Nigeria’s higher education sector.
The university’s delegation to the award ceremony was led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Prof. Oseni Taiwo Afisi, who represented the Vice-Chancellor.
Other members of the delegation included the Bursar, Mr Said Babatunde Olayinka, who was represented by the Deputy Bursar, Mr Kunle Adebesho; the Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Lawal Adigun; the Director of Internal Audit, Mrs Margareth Ogunkoya; the Deputy Registrar, Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Dr Lateef Sekoni; the Deputy Registrar and Special Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor, Dr Lateef Salami; and the Deputy Registrar and Coordinator, Centre for Information and Public Relations, Mrs Oluwayemisi Thomas-Onashile.
The award marks another significant milestone in LASU’s institutional growth and aligns with the vision of the Vice-Chancellor to position the university as a leading citadel of learning in Africa, driven by innovation, relevance, and academic excellence.
