The Centre of Excellence for Sargassum Research (CESAR) at Lagos State University (LASU) has received copyright protection from the Nigerian Copyright Commission for five of its innovative products.

The approved products include SargaFish Feed, SargaChicken Feed, SargaRabbit Feed, SargaPig Feed, and SargaGrasscutter Feed, marking a significant milestone in CESAR’s efforts to promote cutting-edge research and innovation.

This copyright approval follows earlier trademarks granted by the Nigerian Ministry of Trade and Investments for the same products.

A Milestone Achievement for LASU

Director of CESAR, Prof. Benjamin Aribisala, described the development as a major achievement for the institution.

He expressed gratitude to LASU’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, whose unwavering support played a pivotal role in the centre’s success.

“This approval is a testament to LASU’s commitment to groundbreaking research and innovation. It provides intellectual property protection for these products, ensuring they are safeguarded against unauthorized reproduction,” Prof. Aribisala stated.

Empowering CESAR in Intellectual Property Protection

With the copyright now in place, LASU is better positioned to secure its intellectual property rights, enhancing its ability to innovate and contribute to societal development through research.

The Vice-Chancellor commended CESAR for its exceptional strides and reaffirmed the university’s dedication to fostering a research-driven environment that produces impactful innovations.
