Kogi student survives robbery and attack by friend

A 19-year-old student of the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Usman Tijani, has survived a harrowing attack after being lured to a burial ground by his friend, Abdulmuqeet Musari, who robbed him of ₦200,000 and inflicted severe injuries.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, in Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State. Usman, a second-year Cyber Security student and POS operator, was deceived by Abdulmuqeet and taken to a secluded location.

Call for Justice

Family members have demanded justice, with Usman’s aunt, Zainab Avosuahu, recounting the traumatic events.

“We received a call that left us devastated. Usman’s so-called friend lured him, robbed him, and left him injured. He is currently undergoing surgery in Lokoja,” she said.

The victim was rescued hours later and rushed to the hospital, where he is receiving medical care.

Suspect Apprehended

The suspect fled but was later arrested in Ekiti State, thanks to the efforts of local vigilantes and security operatives.

Suleiman Abdulrazaq Acheneje, Senior Special Assistant to the Adavi Local Government Chairman, commended the swift response.

“Usman was found in critical condition and rushed to a hospital in Lokoja. Security operatives tracked the suspect and apprehended him in Ekiti State,” he said.

Ongoing Investigation

The authorities have launched a full investigation, with the suspect in custody. Meanwhile, Usman’s family and the local community continue to call for justice.

Usman remains in recovery, and the incident has sparked conversations about safety and the trustworthiness of social relationships.
