Kaduna State government has suspended the resumption of schools across the state indefinitely.

Governor Nasir Elrufai gave the hint when he was playing host to officials of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) and Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) and other community-based associations at Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House on Monday.

According to him, the government took the decision because of the ongoing aggressive military operations in most parts of the state.

He noted that the ongoing operation was aimed at flushing out the bandits in their different hideouts, saying, we are concerned about the safety of our children who might be attacked by the angry bandits.

To this, the governor urged communities to be vigilant as the fleeing bandits might infiltrate their communities.

Speaking during the visit, the NMA state chairman, Dr Aliyu Sokomba asked the Federal Government to licence the use of firearms to its citizens.

He noted this was necessary in order to allow the people to protect themselves from being attack by the bandits.

Sokomba maintained approving the use of licence firearms has become a priority due to incessant cases of kidnapping in recent times including health personnel.
