The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has revealed that there were no high-scoring candidates in the cancelled sessions of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), prior to the rescheduled exam held in May.

In a statement by JAMB spokesperson Dr. Fabian Benjamin, he debunked widespread claims that some top-performing candidates were affected by the initial server glitches. He disclosed that only a handful of candidates in the cancelled sessions scored up to 217, with 99 percent scoring below 200 marks, confirming that no genuine high scores were recorded in the affected centres.

“The misleading questions posed by certain individuals regarding candidates who allegedly scored highly in the cancelled sessions who might desire to retain their previous results are totally unfounded,” the statement read. “There were no high scorers in the cancelled sessions of the affected six states.”

The statement came as JAMB released the official results of the rescheduled UTME. According to the board, 1.3 million candidates—representing 70.7%—scored below 200, while only 17,025 candidates (0.88%) scored above 300 out of the 1.9 million who sat the exam nationwide.

JAMB also disclosed that some previously released results were withdrawn after security investigations uncovered malpractice in a few centres.

Meanwhile, the board noted that the charges for checking results via SMS using shortcodes 55019 or 66019 do not generate income for JAMB, contrary to public speculation.

All valid results have now been released, with another mop-up exam scheduled for candidates who missed both the original and rescheduled tests.
