The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has deployed more than 10,000 supervisors to 887 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres across Nigeria to oversee the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Speaking at a virtual dialogue organised by the Education Writers Association of Nigeria (EWAN), JAMB’s spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, emphasised the board’s commitment to ensuring a smooth and credible examination process. He noted that, in addition to the supervisors, other personnel have been assigned to monitor the conduct of the examination nationwide.
Dr. Benjamin clarified concerns raised by candidates regarding postings to distant centres. He explained that students select their preferred examination towns during registration, and JAMB subsequently allocates them to available centres within those towns, ensuring a minimum of four centres per town.
Over two million candidates are participating in the 2025 UTME, which is being conducted across the country. Additionally, no fewer than 501 visually impaired candidates will sit the examination at 11 specially designated centres, according to Professor Emeritus Peter Okebukola, Chairman of the JAMB Equal Opportunity Group (JEOG).
The dialogue, themed “2025 UTME: Lessons from Mock Test and the Future of Tech-Driven Examination in Nigeria,” also explored broader discussions around the future of technology-enhanced examinations in the country.
