The Acting Vice-Chancellors of the University of Ibadan(UI), Professor Adebola Ekanola and that of the Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, Professor Oyedamola Oke have both felicitated with the Muslims in their respective universities and other Nigerians on this year’s Eid-el- Adha celebration.
In separate statements made available by the UI’s spokesperson, Mr Olatunji Oladejo, and his counterpart in LASU, Mr Ademola Adekoya, the two vice-chancellors commended the Muslims in their university communities for using their faith to promote love and harmony in the institutions.
The UI VC said he was particularly happy that the Muslims in UI “are continuously contributing to the development of the university and the peaceful co-existence with their neighbours and people of other religious persuasions.”
He urged them not to lose sight of the lessons of the festival, saying “beyond the sacrifice, we should not relent in praying for peace, love, unity and religious tolerance, which are essential to sustaining the glory of our dear country”
On his part, LASU acting VC, Oke asked the Muslim faithful to always remember and imbibe the lessons of the salah celebration which is hinged on sacrifice as their lifestyle
He said such a lifestyle would accelerate further progress for LASU and Lagos State and Nigeria by extension
He, however, urged them to be cautious of their actions as they celebrate by observing all the COVID-19 guidelines and protocols as stipulated by government so as to prevent the spread of the third wave of the virus in the country.
