Covenant is Nigeria’s best university

Covenant University, Ota has ranked top in the Times Higher Education ranking of universities in Nigeria.

It superseded three other Nigerian universities that made the list on the global ranking of about 1400 higher educational institutions.

A copy of the 2020 THE World University Rankings 2020 seen by EduCeleb.com showed that Covenant is within the 401-500 band of the ranking.

It fell from the 201-300 band it previously held in the ranking in the 2019 edition.

The three other Nigerian universities on the list were the University of Ibadan ranked 501-600, the University of Lagos ranked in 801-900 and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in the 1000+ band.

The ranking system cuts across 92 countries and remains the most diverse university rankings globally. It is audited by PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Nigeria, Morrocco and Tunisia in the ranking

On the African continent, the University of Cape Town topped other institutions from both South Africa and Egypt in the top ten.

Globally, the University of Oxford is first followed by the California Institute of Technology and the University of Cambridge.

California Institute of Technology rose three places to become second, while Cambridge went one place down from second in 2019.

Also, Stanford, Yale, Harvard and Imperial College London, all appear in the top 10 worldwide.
