The Bauchi State office of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced a change of venue for the upcoming 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream II orientation course. The orientation camp will now be held at Adamu Tafawa Balewa College of Education in Kangere, replacing the usual Wailo NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, which is currently under renovation.
In a press statement issued on Monday, Bauchi State NYSC Coordinator Rifkatu Yakubu explained that the venue change is essential to facilitate the complete renovation of the permanent camp. Yakubu stated, “The general public is hereby informed that the forthcoming 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream II orientation exercise for corps members posted to Bauchi State is to be held at Adamu Tafawa Balewa College of Education Kangere along Gombe Road, Bauchi LGA, Bauchi State.”
This decision follows a recent visit by Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, to the Wailo camp, where he directed the state Projects Monitoring and Evaluation Committee to commence an extensive renovation of the camp’s structures and possibly add new facilities.
Yakubu reassured that the temporary relocation to Kangere College will ensure a smooth and successful orientation exercise for the prospective corps members. She also advised them to avoid night travel by planning their journeys in stages and continuing the next day if necessary.
Approximately 1,900 prospective corps members have been deployed to Bauchi State for the orientation exercise, which is scheduled to run from August 28 to September 17, 2024.
