UNN expels final year students over exam malpractice

The management of the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) has expelled two students over an act considered examination malpractice.

They are Success Okorie and Akwaugo Oparaeke.

Okorie with matriculation number 2015/203688 is of the Department of Political Science while Oparaeke with matriculation number 2016/231502 is of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology.

The duo were said to have particularly connived in impersonation during their last semester exams.

This was made known in a memo dated 6th July, 2021 from the University’s Registrar’s office and signed by one Dr Nebun Obeita.

The memo was based on the 407th Meeting of the UNN senate held on Wednesday 30th June 2021, that considered its paper 405/17 which contained the recommendations of its examination malpractice committee, and approved that the aforementioned two students be expelled from the university having been found guilty of impersonation under Category “A: offence, in line with Chapter 3.9 of the Undergraduate Academic Regulations.

“You are requested to take action in line with the above decision of the Senate and inform all concerned accordingly,” the memo addressed to relevant officers of the university read.

Among those copied include the Vice-Chancellor and his deputies, the heads of the two departments the former students belonged and the university’s deputy registrars in charge of admissions and administration.
