The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has suspended another lecturer, Samuel Oladipo after he was also indicted in a sexual harassment documentary produced by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).

Dr Oladipo of the Department of Economics is the second UNILAG lecturer featured in the video that exposed sexual harassment in universities in Nigeria and Ghana.

The university earlier suspended Dr Boniface Igbeneghu of the Department of European Languages and Integrated Studies on Monday after his identity was first revealed on Monday.

The BBC had produced a documentary exposing four lecturers – two from UNILAG and two from the University of Ghana, Legon – for allegedly harassing undercover reporters, who posed as students in need of help.

The release of the footage had drawn outrage from many Nigerians, who demanded that justice be served. Some former Nigerian students have even started naming and shaming their lecturers allegedly involved in sex-for-grades.

The Principal Assistant Registrar, Communication Unit, UNILAG, Taiwo Oloyede, confirmed the suspension of Oladipo a day after she said the management would take decisive action against whoever is fingered in the documentary.

Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), UNILAG branch, Dr Dele Ashiru described the sexual harassment scandal that brought down two of the union’s members as unfortunate and tragic.
