UNIJOS extends registrar’s tenure

Authorities at the University of Jos (UNIJOS) have extended the tenure of the university’s Registrar by one additional year.

Monday Danjem who has been in office since June 2016 would now be leaving office in 2022.

The 13th Governing Council of UNIJOS extended the tenure at its recent meeting.

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Mr Tony Momoh on behalf of the Governing Council, considered the favourable recommendation of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Seddi Sebastian Maimako and approved the extension of the Registrar’s tenure with effect from 24th June, 2021 for a period of one year only.

In a letter to the Registrar conveying the decision of the Governing Council to extend his tenure, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Seddi Sebastian Maimako noted that Council took the decision having considered and reviewed the performance of the Registrar for which he was found to be competent, dependable and hardworking.

The Universities (Miscellaneous Provision) (Amendment) Act 2012 empowers University Governing Councils to, upon satisfactory performance, extend the tenure of a Registrar for a period of one year only after serving a single term of five years in the first instance.

Mr Danjem is the seventh (7th) substantive Registrar of UNIJOS and holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Public Administration and Masters Degree in Public Administration, both from the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria.

He secured employment with the University of Jos in September 1997 as Administrative Officer I and steadily rose through the ranks until he was appointed Registrar of UNIJOS on 24th June, 2016.

Danjem who hails from Jiblik in Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State, is married to Mrs Esther Danjem and they are blessed with Six (6) children.
