All schools must resume on Monday, Lagos govt tells proprietors

The Lagos State Government has reiterated the need for all primary and secondary schools in the state, public and private, to keep date with the Unified School Calendar and resume on Monday, 9th September, 2019.

It particularly noted the trend in which private schools resume a week before or after the unified date and warned proprietors that any Private school found in the breach of the rules will be sanctioned accordingly.

In an interview on Friday to welcome students, teaching and non-teaching staff back to school for the 2019/2020 Academic Session, the Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Folasade Adefisayo stated that the adoption of a uniform academic calendar enables proper planning and ensures pupils and students attend school for the number of days required in the term.

Mrs Adefisayo commended the concerted efforts of teaching and non-teaching staff in schools towards preparing the pupils for a successful academic session, and assured them that the State Government will not relent in its commitment towards capacity building/training, Staff Welfare and reward for excellence.

Further, the Commissioner advised all students in the State to devote more time to their studies, shun all vices, including internet fraud, thuggery, hooliganism, rape, examination malpractice, alcoholism, drug abuse and cultism.

She urged parents/guardians that the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in line with THEMES and focus on Education will continue to do everything possible to improve on teaching and learning in all public schools.

In another development, EduCeleb.com reported that the state government would be employing about 15,000 teachers to support its workforce considering the deficit of not doing so in recent years.

  2. It’s good for all schools to have uniformity and for sanctions to be imposed on non-compliance to Government’s Policy. Great stuff.
